How Does the Opportunity Stage Work in SalesLogix?

Question:

I am new in Saleslogix development with no formal training.  I am wondering how the Opportunity Stage works? Currently when i’m doing a sample Opportunity related to an Account the default stage is unknown or there is no stage at all.  How do the Stages work? Is it manually inputed by the user or is it automatically changed?

Answer:

It will automatically change when you create/assign a Sales Process to the opportunity. As the process moves through the stages/steps then the last stage (and, optionally, the sales probability) is set into Opportunity Stage.

Log into Architect and go to Manage/Sales Processes.

These can also be assigned automatically through the User Options.
