As described in the postal code import post, the client purchases a complete listing of the US postal codes. This list also contains the GMT offset for each postal code. During the import, the offset information is also loaded into the postal code table.
Because the client’s sales reps deal with teachers, it is important to know when a teacher is available for calls and when they are in class. The client therefore requested that a field be added to the contact screen, titled “Best time to call”. This field allows reps to know when they can reach the contact. In addition, we integrated the GMT offset from the postal code so that the Contact’s local time can be displayed simply by interpreting the postal code of the Contact’s address. Together, this functionality ensures that SalesLogix provides the rep with accurate information on when a Contact can be reached. This is an improvement over the standard SalesLogix functionality where the local time must be set by the user and visibility to it is only available from the Contact’s detail tab.
Contact screen displays Best Time to Call and Local Time derived from postal code.
