Our client wanted to expand the standard marketing functionality of SalesLogix to include a custom entity for tracking customer testimonials. These testimonials are recorded in a new main and reference the Contact and Account that made the reference. Tracking these testimonials allows users the ability to search through the testimonial list and use them in their marketing or sales efforts. Users may also add new testimonials. The testimonials must be authorized by the source before the client uses them with other clients.

Another feature that was added to the marketing area was the ability to associate a specific library document to a marketing campaign. The client often produces a specific coupon or product announcement bulletins that describe a campaign. In associating a library document, the marketing material can then be easily viewed when creating a campaign response.

When adding a campaign response, if campaign has an associated library document the “View Campaign Materials” button appears on the campaign response tab.
The final modification related to the marketing module of SalesLogix was to tie a new custom Discounting area back to the campaign the discount is associated with. The client often runs a campaign that includes a special pricing promotion or coupon. These pricing discounts will be discussed in other posts. For now, it is enough to note that these discounts are tracked during the quoting process and act to reduce the list price of an item. When discounts are defined they can have a campaign associated with them. When a user applies a discount associated with a campaign to a quote, a contact response is automatically created. This response is tied to the contact requesting the quote and to the opportunity the quote is tied to. By adding this functionality the system allows more accurate tracking of campaign responses without the users having to do any extra work.
