Unique Identifier in SalesLogix Imports

You can certainly tell that I have been working with alot of Imports lately.

Most recently I have a client that would like to update information that did not get imported the first time.

Normally you would remove your records and re-import. However, they have started adding information and cannot start again.

So, if you need to update records in your import you need to have a unique Identifier to match on those records.

You may not have need it the first time around because it was the only data in the database. But....if you need to update those records later, make sure you have a unique identifier.

If you are using an Excel or csv file to import, you can simple go in and uniquely number your rows. This will give each record  a unique identifier that can be used for any updates later.

If you do not need this need number, it will certainly not do any harm to your data to have it there.

So, the moral of the story is.....All have a unique identifier for any records your are importing into SalesLogix.

If will save many headaches down the road.
