Saleslogix User Calendar Information

I had a Saleslogix Administrator pose a question to me this week regarding Calendar information.

The Administrator wanted to be able to save the a users future calendar and past history events, while temporarily deleting the user. They wanted to delete the user so they could free up a SalesLogix License.

Answer: When you have a user that is no longer needed in SalesLogix, you would retire that user rather than delete them. Retiring Users also would free up the license they are no longer using.

In the SalesLogix Administrator program, if you highlight a user, then right click you can choose to change the user type to "Retired". When you change the user type in this fashion, you will retain that user name on all activities and history in your database. You are also able to un-retire that user at a later date.

One note you might want to make about retiring users. Prior to retiring a user, make sure that you change the user's manger to "Administrator". This will save a lot of work for you in the future if you have a manger leave the company.

You are unable to retire any user that has another user reporting to them. Therefore, if a manager is leaving, all users must now report to another manger, including any retired users. It will just save a lot of time, if you change the manger for each user as your retire them.
