On one of our test servers I received the following message when attempting to build the SalesLogix web platform on a v7.5.3 system with Hot Fixes 1 through 4. An application Exception has occurred. Failed to build Sage.Integration.Entity.Feeds.dll. ...

With the SalesLogix Desktop Integration and the Outlook integration web client users have great tools to integrate emails and history into SalesLogix.
But what happens when there is an email that fails to send when selecting SendSLX?

The Sage Desktop Manager application that runs in your taskbar can be restarted from your Start, Programs, Startup, SalesLogix Desktop Manager. This location, while not obvious, does allow those users without the SalesLogix LAN client install to start the app from the Programs.

The standard SalesLogix 7.5.x “SLX Web Reporting” site can only be used for one database because it contains a Connect.Config file that points to a single database. You can switch between databases by re-deploying the “SLX Web Reporting” site, but in a development environment it is more convenient to set up multiple reporting sites, one for each database. The below procedure explains how to setup reporting dedicated to one database. (The following assumes that the Crystal Reports Server and standard Web Reporting components have already been installed on the Web Server.)

One great thing about Amazon EBS based instances is the ability to stop the instance and retain your settings and data. However you should be aware of a pitfall for those of us using this feature. Amazon public images have a config.xml

What I like about this tool is the new feature that enables chaining of imports. For example, say we have an ERP system churning our 30 imports a night that need to run

In a previous post I discussed using the slxprofiler to find bottlenecks in SalesLogix sql statements. Today we will examine one query and create an Index with the Database Engine Tuning Advisor.

At times I have been asked how can I increase the performance of SalesLogix. For systems using SQL2005 or SQL2008 the slowdown may be corrected by adding an index to the table that the SalesLogix script queries. The trick is finding where the bottleneck resides.

Last week I blogged on the deployment of the Disconnected Web Client. Today's post discusses the issues that could arise on the Installation of the Disconnected Web Client. If you have deployed in Application Architect and ran the sync server then the remote users should be able to run sync, apply the changes, and open the personal web server and then the SLXClient.

What we are looking at today is one aspect of the entire Disconnected Web Client piece. We will assume that the remote users have already been created

What are the options for SalesLogix Administrators who need to move files to the Amazon Cloud SalesLogix Image?
If your files are small drop.io is a simple reasonable solution. For those of who like RDP simply share the HD's on your system and RDP into the SLX Cloud instance where you can drag and drop the files to the correct folders.

This procedure won't be much different than restoring in a typical domain environment, but there are a couple precautions to take. The first step is to make sure your backup is built on a single file source

This week I have discovered that the Web Viewer licensed used in version 7.51 is unable to enter notes on a record. This is functionality that a Web Viewer should be able to use, according to the license definition. Sage Software has put out a Hotfix...

In older databases, the main tables are locked down, which is why we always used extension tables. However, you can get around that by setting the UserDef field in the SecTableDefs table to "T" for all records where tablename = Whatever tablename your looking at. If there's a specific requirement for those fields to be in the main table, then we'll temporarily make that change to the sectabledefs data to add the fields.

We had a web client user successfully using MailMerge on a test web installation but after production was put into place mailmerge failed. With a little digging we discovered the initial download to install the Active Mail components places a .dll, Slxemailnotifier.dll, in the Windows\system32 dir and writes a registry setting detailing what web site the SLXclient opens.
