Today I am sitting in the hospital helping my wonderful wife welcome our fourth child into this world. Cailyn Elizabeth was born on the 4th of June after 16 hours of labor measuring out at 10lbs and 21 inches. She is very beautiful and mom and baby are doing great. This is the second to […]
I am near the end of a series of posts providing some easy to follow steps that will help a developer add the ability to associate Activity and History records for a custom main entity within the SalesLogix Web Client. Read the previous three posts to catch up on where we are at. Part 1 Part 2, and Part 3 Since the previous two […]
My goal within this series of post is to provide some easy to follow steps that will help a developer add the ability to associate Activity and History records for a custom main entity within the SalesLogix Web Client. Read the previous two posts to catch up on where we are at. Part 1 Part 2. As promised in the last post we are […]
Yesterday I started a series of post that will talk the reader through giving the ability to schedule activities and review history records for a custom main entity. Today we will continue on with the first set of modifications. Before we get in too deep we need to define some elements to use in our code. These definitions will be […]
This week I decided to take on the challenge of coming up with some easy to follow steps that will help a developer add the ability to associate Activity and History records for a custom main entity within the SalesLogix Web Client. The next several posts should provide the reader with the step by step details of how to accomplish the […]
I have been working to build a web interface that allows a user to add unlisted products into their system during the creation of a Sales Order or Quote. When doing this, not only is the product added to the SALESORDERITEMS table, but also the PRODUCT and PRODCUTPROGRAM tables as well. While scripting this interface I came across an issue that […]
I have often wondered about what the alerts functionality in Crystal Reports was all about so I though I would take a little time to figure it out today. The scenario I will use gives me an alert that identifies when and if a certain Account record qualifies for a report I have written. To get help with […]
There are many ways to get your data into a Microsoft Excel spread sheet for reporting purposes. Business Objects Crystal and Sage SalesLogix both offer an option to kick out report data to an Excel spread sheet. Last week I worked with a client who wanted exactly that, a set of data exported to Excel […]
We just had a client ask or support team how to display one to many data (or a list) in merge forms. This is very achievable, the process is pretty straight forward and can really expand the use of your merge forms. As is the Customer FX way we want to share with the SLX user community so I […]
I wrote about this topic just prior to The Crystal Report Writing class. During the class the question was asked "What about using the Execute SQL tool in the SalesLogix Administrator for syncing out SQL views to remotes?" As a development team we have looked at this before and always found that it just did not work. But we had not tested it in quite a while so we decided to try it again, and this time it worked.
The scenario is you have created a SQL view for use in a Crystal Report. Your end users are excited about the report but then you started getting phone calls from your remote users that the report will not run. You realize that the view you used to help organize your data did not synchronize […]
One of the most common errors in developing Crystal Report in Sage SalesLogix is the failure to plan. A lot of times we just jump in without any fore thought and then spend a lot of time back tracking and making the report work after the fact. I suggest the creation of a internal scope or Blueprint document...
I am going through and reviewing to make sure we have covered all of the standard Crystal Reports that come with Sage SalesLogix. I think I am almost done but I want to make sure I have covered them all. If I find any that are not covered I will make sure to write. Today we will discuss a […]
I reviewed the SalesLogix Work Order Crystal report on the 19th of February 2009. This report turned out to have a number of issues. Here is what I wrote about this report in my original review. Start Excerpt………….. Looking at this report you see that it is out of date with the way SalesLogix currently operates today. For example, […]
In a post labeled SalesLogix Ticket Reports (Part 7) dated Feb 19th, 2009 I wrote a blog post reviewing the SalesLogix Weekly Recap Crystal Report. During the post I did not have much to write about this particular report. When I reviewed the report today I thought of one improvement that we could make. Currently this report is set up to give […]
I wrote about these two reports back on Feb 12 2009 in a Post labeled SalesLogix Ticket Reports (Part 6) , Since the entire post is being refered to I will let you follow the link to see the detail. These two reports are essentially duplicates of each other so I decided to make them one report and […]
Today we will tackle a report that is in need of a little updating, we will provide it a new look and fix some minor issues. The report was originally blogged about back on Februaray 11th 2009. Here is the link to see the entire post. Start Excerpt ………… The “Support Ticket Status By Assigned”. The report […]
The SalesLogix Support Ticket Knowledge Base Crystal Report is a very straight forward and well built document. On this my second review of the document I almost left it as is but I came up with a couple of things that might make the report a little better. Here is the initial review. Start Excerpt ………. […]
Real easy quick post today. The Problem Analysis – By Area report was already fixed during the initial review. Read “Updating Sage SalesLogix Problem Analysis Crystal Report” to read the review. Mostly what I did to update this report is shrink the Cross Tab fields to a size that allowed 31 one days of data to display on […]
All I wanted to do is fix the layout of this simple little report, but as I prepared for this post I noticed that the report was not totaling correctly. This was caused by not accounting for the records where an Area was selected but not a Category or an Issue. This will make updating this report a little more complicated but it will be fun all the same.
