Hard Reset of Xbar Login Credentials in Infor CRM SLX

The Xbar add-in for Microsoft Outlook allows you to see interact with the the data from Infor CRM SLX within Outlook. It even allows you to sync contacts and appointments, and to automatically record email to Infor CRM SLX history. In order to do all that, it store your Infor CRM SLX login credentials, so that server with authenticate it when it asks for data. On rare occasions, the login info it stores will become stuck, either ignoring changes, or not retaining them the next time you log in. The way Xbar stores these credentials is not particularly straightforward, but understanding the places is saves this info will allow you to reset this data should you experience this issue.

Xbar Settings

The places that Xbar stores a user’s login information are as follows: Directly in the Xbar add-in for Outlook; in the registry key Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SalesLogix\Outlook ; and in the settings.xml file at c:\users\[usename]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook . (That last folder is whatever the name of your Outlook profile is. Unless you are using multiple profiles, it is very likley name Outlook. You will need to show hidden folders to see the AppData folder.) You Xbar login infor is also stored in the .ost or .pst file Outlook uses, but it cannot be seen there.
Normally, you edit the setting right in Xbar itself in Outlook. In cases where changes made here are not persisting, it would seem one could just edit the information in one of these spots and fix the bad or outdated login credentials that way. However, I have never actually see that work. Anytime I have observed this information being “stuck”, editing the .xml file or the registry has not been able to “unstick” it, and the bad login credentials have persisted. Based on this, I would recommend clearing all those locations completely.

Registry Xbar credentials

To be absolutely sure of clearing bad login information, you must do the following:
1) Delete the Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SalesLogix\Outlook registry key.
2) Delete the c:\users\[usename]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook folder (or whatever the name of the Outlook profile is).
3) In the windows control panel, open the email settings delete the user’s current email profile (default name is Outlook) and create a new one.
When the user logs in to their new Outlook profile, the Xbar login items should now all be blank, ready for to filled in with the correct information.

Outlook profile

(When resetting the Outlook profile, if you instead wish to give the user an Outlook profile with a different name, you don’t technically need to delete the old one. Though in that case you risk bringing back the old, bad settings should the use ever accidentally use the old profile instead.)
