Like many CRM users, I rely on Outlook to send and receive emails throughout the day. I find that my response times when tying to move about within the messages in my inbox are get slower and slower to the point where it seems like Outlook is locked up for 10 to 15 seconds or longer. I assumed this was because my Outlook .pst file (data file) was just getting too large and even though I would archive old messages it did not seem to help.
I was ready to uninstall it and start over with a new data file until I stumbled accross this fix. Go to File and select Data File Management. Now select your default Data File and click Settings which brings up the Personal Folders screen. Next click the Compact Now button. It took a while the first time I did this and just seconds after that. My Outlook now performs as fast as it did on day one so give it a try.
