Well, this is the end. It’s time to say goodbye to Internet Explorer 11 and the legacy version of Microsoft Edge. Microsoft has officially announced that it will end support for Internet Explorer 11 across its online services like Office 365, OneDrive, Outlook, and more on August 17, 2021. Support with the Microsoft Teams web app and Internet Explorer 11 will end even sooner. That change will happen on November 30, 2020. You can expect to see support end for the legacy version of Microsoft Edge on March 9, 2021. After this time there will be no additional security updates.
This shouldn’t come as a total shock. Microsoft has been trying to move users off of Internet Explorer and on to their Chromium-based Edge browser for years. If you’re still using Internet Explorer 11 or legacy Edge it might be time to start thinking about how this may affect some of the apps you’re currently using.
