This post is a brief set of instructions on how to set up a demo instance with Creatio and use it for testing, with an eye towards testing AI specifically. This one will be a bit more of-the-moment than most of my posts, as is it very specifically addressing the demo instances that Creatio is providing in late February/early March 2026. This is Creatio version 8.3.2.

If you go to Creatio.com, you can click the Try it free button and put in a request for a demo instance. If you are looking to test AI, you will want to select the Creatio CRM instance, which comes with a CRM system complete with fictional data on which you can test. It also includes a modest amount of AI credit you can use for testing. While Creatio has announced that they will be using Actions to keep track of AI credit going forward, as of this writing Tokens are still how AI usage is tracked on the test instances Creatio provides. While the demo instance comes with one million tokens, a token is a very small unit. Many of the the more complex tasks I have asked AI to perform in Creatio take over 50,000 tokens, so that one million tokens can end up being less that 20 tasks, depending on what you are having it do.

While the demo instance will let you try most of the AI Skills as is, that does not include the Skills that employ Google Gemini to search the web. If you have Google Gemini API key, you can add that to the system and test those features as well. To obtain and API key for Gemini, open a web browser and go to aistudio.google.com . It will connect to Google using your active Google account for that browser, though you can switch if you want to use a different one for your API key. The default set-up should have a free-tier API key as the only entry. (If there no key listed, or you need to create another one, just click Create API Key in the upper right.) Click on the key itself (blocked in red in the example above), and a window will pop up displaying the full key, as well as a button on the lower right to copy it. While a free-tier API key is throttled to only a certain number of tokens each day, even that number of tokens should be plenty for testing on a demo Creatio instance. In the System setting in Creatio, search for gemini api key (or just api key). Open the Gemini API Key setting, paste the key into the Default value field, and click Save. Your instance is now able to use Skills that require Gemini to search the web. Keep in mind that the Skills using Gemini will also use your Creatio AI to process and format those results, so they will still use your Creatio AI tokens.

In order to actually use AI in Creatio, click the AI button on the upper right, which will pop open the AI panel. Here, you can click on one of the listed actions, or just type what you want the AI to do. If the AI agent for that screen is able to interpret and perform that request, it will do so. If you would like a quick example to help get you started, open an Account, and click the AI button. From the Skills listed, click on Enrich account data. Creatio will now search the web for info about the listed Account. The Accounts from the demo instance aren’t real companies, so Creatio will likely find a few companies with similar names as possible matches. Now, to show you can do more than just invoke Skills, type a question in the AP prompt, such as “How do I pick which account?” Creatio’s AI should be able to interpret that question, and give you some general tips on how to pick which of the companies it found is the correct one.
