Issue With System Dates

One of my customers had an issue this week with setting the date on their system.

They were trying to run a contact process and back date the note that was going to be entered on the Contact Record.

Because of their Licensing Level, they are unable to actually change the Contact process itself. So, they changed the date on their desktop and proceeded to run the contact process.

When the note was entered, it still used the current date and not the date that was on their desktop.

When changing the date, you need to change the date on the database server, rather than on your desktop. You need to actually go to the source. So, they would have needed to change the date on the server, if they want this process to work.

Furthermore, now that is was done incorrectly, they wanted to remove the history items that were created. This can be done by uniquely identifying the entries and writing a sql script to remove these entries from the History table.

Lesson Learned?????  If you are goiing to try something new on your system, make sure you first try it on a test system, it is always much easier to recover a test system, than your LIVE system.

Have a great day!
