Using the Copy Profile Option in SalesLogix 7.5 Admin

The Copy Profile function in SalesLogix Admin provides a quick way to set selected users up with either an existing profile template or by copying the profile of an existing user.  The administrator has the ability to copy up to ten separate sub profiles to any or all SalesLogix users.  This is a great way to streamline creation of new users!  However, there are no restrictions on copying profiles and you can lock up the Administrator or create calendar access issues if you copy calendar information to web users.  When using the copy profile function for web users DO NOT copy Calendar information from one user to another – this may cause access issues for the users you are copying the calendar data to.  Use the User Profile Calendar Tab to create calendar access for web users.  If you are copying employee or general access to other users and you are using a manager for your profile you can end up changing the manger flag to T for all of those users and this will create a problem for the SalesLogix employee hierarchy that will essentially lock you out of the Administrator.  This can be corrected by opening the Usersecurity table and resetting the managerid flag to F where applicable.  I encourage any administrator to take advantage of this functionality but use it with caution.

  1. In what way could direct Sales to Contacts from MAS500 to Contact detail view in SLX 7.5 Lan? We currently direct the Sales to the Contacts Account via the Ship to ID.Then display a group of the sales for a particular time frme. Then go line by line entering the Sales of the Contact via a note within the Contact detail view. Is there any better way you can think of to associate Sales to Contacts. If we could automate this task to some degree it would be of great help.
