Clearing out web users VFS user preferences and definitions

In the SalesLogix web client, user settings like tab order, which tabs are visible, which tab is in the middle pane, and the size and position of the various frames are stored in the SalesLogix database VFS.

If a SalesLogix Web Client user is unable to access a particular type of page, even when the SalesLogix login is performed at different workstations, and other users do not experience the same problem, it probably is due to some contaminated user settings in the VirtualFileSystem table. Use the below SQL script to delete expendable user settings. The deleted settings will be reset to defaults when the user next logs in. Custom setups, such as visible tabs, will need to be reset by the user.

(Before running the script, replace UserName with the actual SalesLogix user name, the name the user logs into the system with.)

After executing the script, an IISRESET must be performed to remove a copy of the old settings from the IIS cache.

delete from sysdba.VIRTUALFILESYSTEM where modifyuser = 'Admin' and itemname <> 'Admin' and itempath like '\Configuration\Application_User\SlxClient\%'

If most users are experiencing the problem, run the below script to delete all users’ options. This will delete tab related Web Client user settings, but not change the Customer Portal user settings.

delete from sysdba.virtualfilesystem where modifyuser in (select usercode from sysdba.usersecurity) and modifyuser<>itemname
and (ITEMNAME  not like 'model%' or ITEMNAME not like '%root%' ) and itempath like '\Configuration\Application_User%'

Please use caution when running SQL statements like this against the database.  Do so only if sure of the results you are preforming are correct.  Always try this type of thing in a test environment first.
