Infor CRM and Internet Explorer Security Settings

Currently, the default security settings on Internet Explorer are fairly high.  This may be desirable from a security standpoint, but it is known to cause issues for the Infor CRM web client.  In order to have the web client work properly in Internet Explorer, it is necessary to change two settings in the Internet Options Security tab.

In Internet Explorer, open the Tools menu, and select Internet Options.  In the Internet Options window, click the Security tab.

The first step is to add the address for your Infor CRM client website to the Trusted Sites list.  Click on Trusted Sites, and then click the Sites button just below and right of it.  Paste the URL of your ICRM into the blank, and click Add. Then click close.  The next step is to set the security level for the Trusted sites zone low enough that ICRM will function correctly.  Set the slider bar for the security level all the way down to Low (all the way at the bottom), and click OK.

Note: if you are not comfortable setting the security level for the Trusted Sites zone all the way down (or if company policy does not permit it), it is possible to use a custom level to give ICRM the rights it needs.  To do this, instead of moving the slider, click the Custom Level button.  Then scroll through long list of attributes and set the following:

In the ActiveX controls and plug-ins section, set “Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe for scripting” to either Enabe or Prompt.  Set “Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting” to Enable.  If you are using Windows authentication, then scroll all the way down to the User Authentication section and set Logon to “Automatic logon with current user name and password.”

  • On the Security Settings – Trusted Sites Zone window, in the Settings pane, in the ActiveX Controls and Plug-ins area, for the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe for scripting click Enable.
Note: Prompt may also be selected here if the user prefers to be prompted before running scripts.
  • For the Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting option click Enable.
  • If Windows authentication for the Web Client is enabled, in the User Authentication section for the Logon option click Automatic logon with current user name and password.
