As the digital landscape continues to evolve, so do the demands of cybersecurity and reliability. On October 10, 2023 we will say farewell to Microsoft Server 2012 as it reaches end of support. Here are a couple things you need to know.
- Microsoft has made clear that after this date, no more security updates, non-security updates, bug fixes, technical support, or online technical content updates will be provided. The reality of this is that the security foundation of these systems will be left vulnerable to evolving cyber threats. This is the driving reason behind Infor’s mandate that all Infor CRM Cloud customers upgrade to v9. All Infor CRM customers on v8.4 and below should consider an upgrade so that they are compatible with newer versions of Microsoft Server.
- For those who find upgrading to the next version an immediate challenge, there’s a lifeline known as Extended Security Updates (ESUs). These critical updates ensure continued security for up to three years post the end of support date. ESUs can be obtained for free within Azure or through purchase for on-premises deployments. Microsoft recognizes the diversity of deployment environments and offers guidance for both cloud and on-premises solutions.
With support ending, the absence of security updates and technical assistance leaves systems vulnerable to evolving threats. Now is the time to upgrade your Microsoft Server, and if you’re an Infor CRM customer running an older version, now would be a good time to consider an upgrade to v9.
