Fix for Concurrent User licenses not being released after applying update 08, 09 or 10 for Infor CRM 8.3

Description:
The following information only applies if your Infor CRM system in NOT integrated with Infor Ming.le.

After applying update 08, 09 or update 10 for 8.3 you will find that Infor has added a session state parameter to the SlxClient web.config file and have set the default value to 480.

This parameter being added to the web.config with a value of 480 causes two things to happen:

  1. First the IIS session state timeout setting is ignore and instead the value set in the web.config is used
  2. Concurrent users who do not use the Infor CRM logout button to exit the Web Client and instead just close the browser will lock that license for 8 hours (480 minutes) before it can again be used by other concurrent users.
Steps To Reproduce:
Apply updates 08, 09 or update 10 to a 8.3 Infor CRM system.
Resolution:
The following steps can be used to reduce the session state timeout value of the Web Client.

  1. Login to the Application Architect
  2. Under the Project Explorer browse to the following:
    • VFS on XXX > Portal Manager > SlxClient > Support Files
  3. Double click web.config to open it.
  4. Find the following line, in a out of the box web.config file this is around line 191
    • sessionState timeout=”480″
  5. Update the 480 value to the desired setting.
    • Value is in minutes
  6. Save your changes.
  7. Build and deploy the Web Project.
Note:
  • IMPORTANT: If you are Infor CRM system is integrated with Infor Ming.le this parameter and it’s value of 480 is required.
  • We have found that in systems which have a primarily concurrent user licenses having the session state timeout value in the web.config file be 5 minutes idle. This allows the concurrent user license to quickly be available after an improper logout.
