Error trying to add a new group in the SalesLogix web client – XMLSchema Node not Found: “SomeTable”.

Ever run into an error similar to this?  When trying to build a new group on a new custom entity in the web client you receive an error similar to “XMLSchema Node not Found: “SomeTable”.”.  Here is how to fix it:

  • Remove the XML schema row in the SalesLogix plugin table using the following query:

delete from plugin where pluginid = ‘XMLSCHEMA   ‘

  • Next log into the SalesLogix LAN client and create a new Mail Merge template. Under the menu  “Write…Templates”.  Yiou will see a dialog saying “Rebuilding XML Schema”.  Once that dialog closes the Plugin XMLSchema row has been re-created using the current database definitions.

You should now be able to add a group to your custom entity in the web client.

The problem here is that some times the XML schema file in the plugin table does not get properly updated when the database schema changes.  When this happens this manual clean up step mentioned above is the quickest way to fix it.

  1. I am not positive but you might be able to do so by adding a new table in the database manager and applying the changes. I think that used to rebuild the XML but I am not positive. If your Write…Mail Merge menu is disabled it is likely because you do not have Word installed. Either that, or the menu has been disabled. You can try on another computer that does have Word and logging in as a user that would not have that menu item disabled (like admin).
