Retiring Users Who Own SalesLogix Records

It comes up quite frequently that there are records owned by a user so you cannot retire that user.   If you have reassigned all activity records and realigned all account and contact records with the territory realignment tool then there may be private records owned by this user, delete or change those records to public and reassign.  Finally if that still does not allow you to retire the user then find the userid for that user in the usersecurity table then run scripts to update the main SalesLogix tables.  Here are some examples:

delete from usersecfunctions where userid =’U6UJ9XXXXXX’

update account
set accountmanagerid =’ADMIN’
where accountmanagerid =’U6UJ9XXXXXX’

update contact
set accountmanagerid =’ADMIN’
where accountmanagerid =’U6UJ9XXXXXX’

update opportunity set accountmanagerid =’ADMIN’ where accountmanagerid =’U6UJ9XXXXXX’

UPDATE  ACCOUNT
SET SECCODEID =’ADMIN’
 WHERE SECCODEID =’N6UJ9XXXXXX’

UPDATE CONTACT
SET SECCODEID =’ADMIN’
 WHERE SECCODEID =’N6UJ9XXXXXX’

This will reset accountmanagerid and seccodeid to ADMIN for the remaining records.   Now you will be able to retire your user(s) and reclaim your license.
