Exporting a Report to a PDF and Attaching to a Record in Server-Side Code in Infor CRM (Saleslogix)
I recently had a client that needed to use server-side code to export a report to a PDF and add as an attachment to a record. There's some tricky code to do this, so I decided to wrap it up in a reusable and open source assembly.
Take a look at the open source FX.ReportUtility repository on Github:

Microsoft’s New Visual Studio Code IDE and Infor CRM (Saleslogix) Mobile
Today at Microsoft's Build Developer Conference, a new, free, cross-platform code editor for web applications named Visual Studio Code was announced. This new IDE is more lightweight and similar to other text-based code editors like Sublime or Atom. The IDE was actually built on Github's Electron node-based framework (the same thing that Github's Atom editor is built on). The...
SalesLogix Group Explorer Updated
The SalesLogix Group Explorer has become a widely used tool for tracking down issues with SalesLogix groups, allowing you to see the group definition, conditions, layout, and underlying SQL for any SalesLogix group. Best of all it's a free tool. This tool has been updated to work on 64-bit computers as well as all versions of SalesLogix from version 7.2 up to the most recent version 7.5.3.
Excluding SalesLogix Model Files from Source Control
Whether you're using Git, or some other source control system, there are certain files in a SalesLogix model that you do not want to include in your source control. Many part of the files in an exported SalesLogix model are automatically generated by the Application Architect and by the build process when you build your web platform. Having these files under source control would only complicate things when working with multiple developers since you'd each need to merge these automatically generated files with each pull/checkout from source control since they change every time.
The SalesLogix bundlediff.exe utility for SalesLogix 7.5.2
During the SalesLogix upgrade from a previous version of the SalesLogix web client ot 7.5.2 one of the procedures is to create a manifest bundle of all of you customizations. SalesLogix has now provided a utility to help compare what from your custom manifest has changed in SalesLogix 7.5.2.
Lest say that I am on 7.5.1 and want to bundle...
Groups Not Loading in SalesLogix 7.5 Web
I recently saw an issue where groups would not load in SalesLogix 7.5.1 web. Not a single group would load. You'd see the spinning circle as if it were attempting to load the group. However, that would disappear and then...nothing. No group data would appear. Not just the data, but not even the group definition, so you wouldn't even see any column headers. With a little troubleshooting the problem was easy to track down, and the solution turned out to be a simple one.
SalesLogix License Updater
SalesLogix License Updater is a utility that assists business partners to update multiple SalesLogix databases that contain evaluation licenses. SalesLogix periodically publishes evaluation license unlock keys that are only good for a period of a few months. As a SalesLogix business partner, we often have many SalesLogix databases on our network utilizing these evaluation licenses - Once the evaluation key expires you have to log into each database using the SalesLogix Administrator and add the new unlock key license. Obviously this can be time consuming if you have a lot of these databases.
SalesLogix Group Explorer Added to Labs
I added a new utility to the Customer FX Labs tonight, the SalesLogix Group Explorer. This utility allows you to dig deeper into the definition of SalesLogix groups than you ever thought possible. You can see the group's layout, included columns, conditions, sort order, and way more. Not only that, but you can also see the SQL query behind the group and view the data that makes up the group, all from outside of SalesLogix. The Group Explorer also gives you the ability to quickly export group data, exporting 100,000 records in a fraction of a second.
