Question: We’re using SalesLogix v7.5.1 and for some reason users keep losing tabs on the Account and Contact mainviews. At first it seemed as though only custom smartparts were affected, but we’ve started to notices that the More Tabs tab is being affected as well. When the user loses a tab it doesn’t come back. Also, when the tab disappears it causes other tabs and dialogs to stop working and the user receives an error similar to this:
“Sys.InvalidOperationException: Could not find UpdatePanel with ID ‘ctl00_TabControl_element_ActivityList_update_panel_ActivityList’. If it is being updated dynamically then it must be inside another UpdatePanel.”
We did not experience this issue in development, only on our live system. Is it possible to correct this issue?
Answer: Yes, you can correct this issue. Start by opening Application Architect, go to View and choose Virtual File System Explorer. Browse to Configuration, then choose Application_User -> SlxClient -> [Login]. Now open the ASP.account_aspxDetail and ASP.contact_aspxDetail for the affected users and open the TabWorkspace XML file. You will need to manually add the entries for the missing tabs under the MainTabs or MoreTabs. Double check that the string you enter is the name of the tab, example: ActivityList. Finally rebuild and redeploy.
